gconf, how odd
May 25th, 2007 by philipp
Yesterday evening I had some problems with my gconf which seems to be quite important for gnome/metacity:
- fonts had changed
- symbols in menus were gone
- alt&tab didn’t work
- the taskbar didn’t work
- key-repeat didn’t work, so I couldn’t hold a key to repeat its function
- I couldn’t access System->Preferences->Themes:
“The default theme schemas could not be found on your system. This means that you probably don”t have metacity installed, or that your gconf is configured incorrectly.”
Fortunately I use Linux so this was not a big problem
. I decided to wait for an update and went to bed. When I got up today I received some updates but they didn”t work for me. So I decided to google for the errormessage given above and the first thing I found was a Bug on Launchpad with a link to a solution at the Ubuntuforums. And, of course, this worked for me
So, if anyone seems to have a similar problem, check out if this helps.
